Rotelle Privacy Policy

1. Data Stored on Your Mac

Rotelle stores timers, task names, Jira issue keys, titles, descriptions, links, settings, and detailed timing sessions locally on your Mac.

2. Jira Connection

When you connect Jira, Rotelle requests permission to read issue details and create worklogs. OAuth access and refresh tokens are stored in the macOS Keychain. Our Rotelle API exchanges OAuth authorization codes and refresh tokens with Atlassian but does not persist those tokens or your Jira content.

3. Private iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud sync, Rotelle stores time entries, timer sessions, settings, ticket history, achievements, closed periods, and deletion markers in your private CloudKit database so they can merge across Macs using the same Apple Account. Jira passwords and OAuth tokens remain in each Mac’s Keychain and are not synced. Apple processes this data as the iCloud service provider under your Apple Account terms and privacy settings.

4. Feedback and Feature Requests

When you press Send in Settings → Feedback, Rotelle sends the message you wrote, its category, and your Rotelle and macOS versions to the Plane & Ladybird feedback mailbox through the Rotelle API. Rotelle does not automatically attach task names, Jira content, tracked time, credentials, or your email address. Do not include sensitive information you do not want us to receive.

5. Anonymous Usage Statistics

When anonymous usage statistics are enabled, Rotelle sends a small event when the app launches, becomes active on a new day, starts a timer, connects Jira, or uploads a worklog. Each event contains the app version, macOS major version, and a random event identifier used only to prevent duplicate counting. Daily active-use events also contain an anonymous identifier that changes every calendar day and cannot be used to follow an installation across days.

These events never contain task names, Jira issue keys, Jira sites, descriptions, links, tracked durations, email addresses, OAuth credentials, or a persistent device identifier. Aggregate download counts are recorded when the Rotelle download link is opened in a normal browser.

6. How Data Is Used

Rotelle sends Jira requests only to provide features you initiate, such as loading an issue or submitting a worklog. Feedback is used to answer product problems and plan improvements. Anonymous statistics are used to understand installations, active use, feature adoption, and app-version distribution. We do not sell personal data, combine analytics with advertising profiles, or use Jira data for analytics.

7. Service Providers

Cloudflare hosts the Rotelle API, delivers feedback messages by email, and hosts the EU-based database used for anonymous product counters. Infrastructure providers may process limited request metadata for security, delivery, and reliability. Apple processes private iCloud sync data. Jira data is processed by Atlassian according to your organization's configuration and Atlassian's policies.

8. Your Choices

You can disable iCloud sync and anonymous usage statistics independently at any time in Rotelle Settings → General. You can disconnect Jira and remove its credentials from Rotelle at any time. Sending feedback is optional. You can remove locally stored Rotelle data by deleting the app's data from your Mac and manage synced data through your Apple Account.
